Production and Costume Designer and a Helpmann Award nominee, Leon Krasenstein graduated from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAPPA) in 2003.
Most recently Leon was costume designer for Abe Forsythe’s feature Down Under. He also designed both Bondi Hipsters’ series of Soul Mates for ABC. In 2012 Leon was production and costume Designer for Sick, a pilot for MTV that won the 2011 Optus ONE80PROJECT. He has also designed numerous TVCs for Jungleboys.
In 2010, Leon designed sets and costumes for TasDance’s production of Heart Matters and for Perth Theatre Company’s The Removalists. He also designed the set and costumes for the Victorian Opera’s production of Rake’s Progress in 2011, which was directed by John Bell.
In 2008 Leon designed costumes for NICA’s circus production of Rhapsody directed by Sally Richardson in Melbourne. Leon also designed sets and costumes for the Australian Ballet production of Firebird, directed by Graeme Murphy. Leon has also designed major productions for Opera Queensland and West Australian Ballet.
Leon’s event and corporate designs include: Alcoa’s 2010 strategic plan, LIVE@WOODSIDE 2008 and 2009 and he designed the uniforms for the Channel Seven crew for the 2006 Winter Olympic Games in Torino, Italy.
