Sharlene Miller Brown was born and raised in Central Western NSW. She is a graduate of Sydney University (Bachelor of Arts majoring in Literature and Psychology) and has worked in recruitment in Sydney. She lived in New York City while writing The Retreaters. She now lives in Sydney with her husband and two small children.
