Marieke Hardy

Marieke Hardy is a screenwriter, radio broadcaster, columnist and author. Her scriptwriting career was forged as a 14 year old when Channel 9 picked up one of her storylines for the comedy series Altogether Now. Since then, her work has attracted AFI and AWGIE awards for her children’s series Short Cuts and AACTA and AWGIE nominations for both series of the Laid (Porchlight Films for the ABC), which she co-created. Marieke has a long list of TV writing credits, including Spirited, Winners & Losers, Packed to the Rafters, Zapruder’s 30 Seconds, Always Greener and McLeod’s Daughters, and creating the drama series Last Man Standing.

Marieke hosted the breakfast radio show on Triple J FM from 2007 – 2009 and now appears regularly on ABC 702 and 774. Her television work includes segment presenting/appearing on Sunday Arts, Talking About Your Generation and she’s been a regular guest on ABC TV’s First Tuesday Book Club since 2005.

She also writes regular columns in The Age and ABC’s The Drum, is a senior contributor to Frankie magazine and co-curates the hugely successful literary salon Women of Letters.

Marieke’s first collection of essays, You’ll Be Sorry When I’m Dead (Allen & Unwin 2011), proved a hit on the independent bestsellers list.
