Lisa Walker was born in Holland, spent the early part of her life in Fiji and her teenage years in Brisbane. Following a stint as a barmaid on the Barrier Reef she became an igloo builder and wilderness guide in the Snowy Mountains.

She now lives on the north coast of New South Wales, where she divides her time between writing, surfing and working in community relations for the National Parks and Wildlife Service.

Lisa has won several short story awards. Liar Birds is her first novel. Her second will be published towards the end of 2012.
