A screenwriter and playwright, Tamara Asmar has been writing for television for several years.
Tamara is currently writing for Essential Media’s new television drama Doctor Doctor. She recently completed episodes for Beyond Productions’ animated children’s series, Beat Bugs, after participating in Playmaker Media’s Scribe showrunner program whilst working with Playmaker as script editor/writer on Love Child 2.
Tamara wrote three episodes of the live-action children’s series Sam Fox: Extreme Adventures (SLR/Channel 10), and is wrote the pilot for another SLR live-action children’s series, The Alice-Miranda Mysteries.
Tamara has written extensively for Screentime (Crownies, Tricky Business) and her short film, Census, was selected for the Flickerfest International Film Festival in 2013.
A graduate of the esteemed NIDA Playwright’s Studio, Tamara wrote the play Sabur while there. She has had two plays produced for the Old Fitzroy Theatre, Ninja and Belle’s Line, along with other short plays Class for the 24 Hour Play Generator, Griffin Theatre and Queen of the Night for Brand Spanking New (New Theatre). She was also shortlisted for the Philip Parsons Playwright’s Award for her play submission Radio Pictures for Company B Belvoir in 2009.
