Shannon is a NIDA Directing graduate and a University of Florida Performance graduate who has worked professionally and internationally as an actor and director with The Virginia Stage Company, Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation, The Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts, First Frontier Outdoor Theatre, Florida Players and The Hippodrome State Theatre. In Australia She has directed The Age of Consent for Adelaide Fringe Festival; Trapture for The Old Fitzroy Theatre; My Name Is Rachel Corrie & Bliss for B Sharp; Crestfall, Heartbreak Hotel & This Year’s Ashes for Griffin Theatre Company, Tusk Tusk for the Sydney Theatre Company and Shoot/Get Treasure/Repeat for Flinders University.
She was nominated for a 2008 Sydney Theatre Award for Best Director for My Name is Rachel Corrie; the production won Best Independent Production. Shannon has been Resident Director at Griffin Theatre Company and a recipient of the Mike Walsh Fellowship. In 2011 she directed Porn.Cake for Griffin Theatre, Circle Mirror Transformation for The Ensemble and in 2012 directed The One-Eyed Man Is King for the Schaubühne Theatre in Berlin.
As a deviser Shannon is part of the contemporary performance collective SandS Through the Hour Glass, winner of the Sydney Morning Herald Award for Most Thrilling Theatrical Event in 2010.
